Wiring 1

The instrument cowling and dash are constructed from metal, this is much stronger and heavier than what it needs to be, but I find it much easier working with metal.

I quickly made myself an english wheel.

I used it to form the cowling and will need it latter to shape some aluminium panels.

It looks like a daunting task, too many wires!

I seem to have done ok with the wiring, I will not need the wiring in the box, however I am a bit dubious about cutting them at this stage. I will probably remove them later while the engine is running.

Chassis build 4

We finished the chassis and got straight into testing.

Chassis torsional test, passed with flying colours, (7500Nm/deg.)

The aim is now to assemble the car, get the engine running, go for a good run and give the car a good workout before I start working on the body. I will than strip the car, have it all painted, than reassemble it and finally get it registered.

That seems like a long way away at this point, but we will keep at it, and all going well it should be done for Christmas.

We dropped the engine in, assembled the front end, fitted the tail shaft and started thinking about the electrical system.

Chassis build 3

I am using VZ pedals so I replicated the hole pattern from the Commodore.

The welded panels below are an integral part of the chassis, they do add a bit more weight, but weight will not be an issue with this vehicle, they also improve it's torsional rigidity. We need to achieve a minimum of 3500Nm per degree.

We are ready for our first inspection from Doug Potts.

Chassis build 1

After countless hours on Solidworks, we finaly started building the chassis.

It wasn't to long before we were ready to work on the the front suspension. The final product should look something like this. With this configuration we should have a roll centre 45mm from the ground, based on 130mm ride height.

The computer makes it look a lot easier than what it realy is.
